As part of a multi-million pound project to enhance a number of entrance ways, junctions and roads in Preston city centre, Lancashire County Council has recently completed works along Corporation Street and Ringway, resulting in improved pedestrian crossings and pavements.
The next phase is scheduled to start on August 19 along Fishergate by Lune Street.
As a result, traffic lights are being removed from Lune Street and Chapel Street, with Chapel Street being be made one way. This means no traffic will be able to turn left onto Winckley Square from Fishergate. Vehicles will be able to turn onto Fishergate from Chapel Street.
Traffic will continue to be able to run along Fishergate during the works, but will be reduced to one lane in the area where the improvements are taking place. Motorists are being warned to expect some delays during this time.
